LONGUES: Site of the only battery with its original guns still in place. The battery fought a duel with HMS Ajax and was subsequently neutralised early on D-Day. One gun continued to fire, but that too was silenced at 18:00 by the French cruiser Georges Leygues. It was taken by 231 Brigade on 7 June.
